"Coach Romeo Crennel said that Matt Cassel will start at quarterback for the Chiefs in Sunday's game against Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium.
Crennel said Brady Quinn, who recently suffered a concussion, has been cleared by doctors to practice but not play in a game. That clearance could come later in the week, but Crennel said he couldn't wait any longer to make his decision.
"I can't take the chance on practicing a guy and then not have him ready to play on Sunday,'' Crennel said.
"(Quinn is) feeling a lot better, doing a lot better. The doctor told him he's doing better. The doctor also told him he's going to monitor him this week and if he makes it through the week without incident that he could be cleared for the weekend. But he's got to make it through the week before the doctor will clear him."
